Plot[]

Gumdrop Angel[]

Angel finds herself trapped in a small box. She feels weak and heavy, barely able to see, and is unable to blink or scream. She raises her hands to try and rub her eyes to clear the guck from them, but her hands whack against something hard. She doesn't know what is happening to her.

Flashing back, Angel is at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza for her five-year-old stepsister Ophelia's birthday party. Her father abandoned her and her mother Bianca when Angel was young, so Bianca became a workaholic to support them both, and had less and less time for Angel. Eventually, Bianca fell in love with and married Ophelia's wealthy father, Myron. Angel hates being a part of the family, given how Myron and Bianca devote their time and money to spoiling Ophelia while Angel is pushed to the side. Angel also hates the pizzeria and being around so many noisy children. Ophelia gets pizza sauce on Angel's clothing and hair, trying to force feed her pizza. Which causes Angel to knock Ophelia's arm away, to which she overreacts and gets Angel in trouble. The pizzerias animatronics begin to perform their song before Bianca and Myron can berate Angel. She takes the opportunity to go to the restroom to clean up. An assistant manager named Dominic meets her on the way and takes her to another room to help clean her up. Angel finds him cute. They exchange numbers before Dominic is called back to work.

Angel returns to the party in time to see the employees lower down a life-size candy statue of a girl called the Birthday Gummy, which moves on its own, leading Angel to think it contains animatronic parts. The announcer has Ophelia take the first bite of the Gummy's toes, before unleashing the rest of the children to devour it, making sure that Ophelia gets the Gummy's gumdrop nose, although she saves it for later. The family leaves the pizzeria, and Angel is shocked to hear that Myron has another surprise for Ophelia: horseback riding, as she is obsessed with horses. Angel talks to Tammy, whose father runs the service, and tells her that Myron has bought Ophelia a horse and pony and is paying for years of riding lessons.

At home, Angel gets a call from Dominic, but Myron invades the call and shouts at Dominic to leave before chewing out Angel, leading Angel to call Myron out on his hypocrisy of buying expensive items for Ophelia but not being willing to help pay for Angel's education, which costs significantly less. She also exclaims that Ophelia stole all the attention in the family, and that her mother should have never married Myron. She angrily storms into Ophelia's room and eats the Gumdrop Nose, as revenge against Ophelia. She boasts to Ophelia how delicious it tastes and locks herself in her room when her parents hear the commotion Ophelia makes.

Angel wakes up suddenly and she realizes she has been sleeping until 11pm. She finds her neck is itchy along with her jaw and chest. She first thought a spider bit her. She goes to the bathroom and looks at her reflection in the mirror, and her skin is mottled bright red and pale white and has a weird squishy texture. As the rash continues spreading on her body, she realizes that the water Dominic sprayed on her to get rid of the stain might have been toxic. She takes a shower to wash it off and scrubs her body until it bleeds, but the rash continues to spread. She starts to look like a lizard with pink and red gooey scales on her body.

Angel calls Dominic demanding him to tell her what he did to her. After Angel mentions that she ate the Gumdrop Nose, Dominic tells Angel to come back to Freddy's so he can help her. Driving over in Bianca's sports car, she finds she is becoming floppier and more pliable, and she begins to feel dizzy. At the pizzeria, Dominic leads her to the back room with a box. He says that he will place her inside, and she accepts because she wants to feel safe. Dominic tells her to close her eyes as he places her in the box. This leads to the opening scene of the story, where she wakes up in the box. She is unable to move her body, clear her eyes, or move her mouth. She notes that she is in a standing position.

As Angel begins to panic, she feels that she was being lowered down. She heard the sounds of children talking and laughing, and she flails her arms and legs to beg for help. Angel has become the new Birthday Gummy, and the birthday girl takes a bite of her toe. All the kids devour her candy body and eat her alive as Angel can only helplessly watch.

Sergio's Lucky Day[]

Sergio works at an architectural firm and is generally applauded and viewed as an "architectural phenomenon", due to how quickly he made it to where he was at his age. His boss, Dale, comes to inform Sergio that he has been promoted to project manager.

Sergio reflects on this moment thinking that he doesn't know if what he wanted was really what he needed. Sergio and the department go to have a promotion party for him. They all go to a steakhouse that is just across the street of firm and settle down in the meeting room of the restaurant. Everyone is having a good time- except Sergio. He's acting like everything is fine, joking and talking to everyone at the table, but he's been depressed since the news about his promotion, and he doesn't know why. Sergio reflects on his current relationship with his girlfriend, Violet. Sergio has been dating Violet for a year, but he feels like he doesn't truly know her. He has lied to her about everything about himself, from his favorite genre of movie to the food he likes. He stumbles through a lot of interactions with her, blindly agreeing with what she says and hoping he's saying the right thing in return.

He's embarrassed of her, and Sergio wonders if it's too much to want a girlfriend who likes what he likes and if Violet would like the real him. He doesn't like her sometimes either, especially due to her flirting with every man she saw. The girl he really wants is Sophia Manchester, a girl he fell in love with the moment he saw her. Unfortunately, she was a popular girl, and he was not a popular boy, so he never got with her, but she's always been on his mind, even after 10 years. Violet tries to feel up Sergio's friend, Clive, but Clive's girlfriend, Fiona, promptly puts her back in her place via flying mashed potatoes.

Before they all leave, Sergio is forced to do a speech, and is relieved to see that he didn't mess up his speech. After being forced to dance with Violet and his friends before heading home, he's stopped by his apartment neighbor Ms. Bailey. She is an old woman that likes to chat with him, but he does not like to talk with her due to how much time she wastes doing so. He manages to dodge a lengthy conversation and make it to his apartment to sleep. The next day, Sergio wakes up and calls his parents, telling them about the job promotion and regretting it near the end of the phone call. He called because he wanted validation, especially from his father.

Sergio goes to work and quickly realizes that the new position's private office is the only good thing to come with the new job. He was the only one in a position meant for 10 or more people. Two and a half weeks later, Sergio is floundering in this new position and realizing it is not what he thought it was. The job sucks, but now so does his home life. Ms. Bailey has taken to staying up longer just to talk to him, and the neighbor above him, "Thunder Feet", loves to dance in the dead of night. He's not sleeping right anymore, he's gaining weight for various reasons, and Violet is now complaining over his new work hours.

Things get worse when Sergio has several instances of bad luck; it rains when it was supposed to be sunny, all his papers get wet on the way to his SUV and the vehicle itself shuts down on him for no reason on an empty road. He heads to the gas station to try and fix his car, before he trips on a trash can, spilling its contents. Sergio notices something in the trash as the rain suddenly stops. Poking out of the trash, he sees a bright red propeller on top of a cap attached to a round head with reddish brown hair, big blue eyes, an orange triangular nose, rosy cheeks, and a wide mouth full of pronounced white teeth. The figurine's head was on an equally as round body with arms and legs.

The figurine wore a short-sleeved, two button shirt with red and blue stripes that matched the cap, and it had round feet and hands. The right hand held a large red and yellow striped balloon, and the left held a small sign that read "I'm a lucky boy." Sergio realizes it's actually a toy. He talks to the toy, and it talks back. He asks for its name, and it says "Lucky Boy.". Sergio decides to keep Lucky Boy, and he takes the toy with him on his trip to call a pick-up truck. The next day, before he goes to work, he asked Lucky Boy for any wise words. "Today is your lucky day.", is all he gets.

He gets to work but is sent home. But his luck suddenly turns around when he wins the lottery, gaining $600,000 dollars. Sergio asks what he should do with the money, and Lucky Boy simply tells him to spend it. He spends his money on frivolous things, such as a new watch, a new car, and a new truck when his new car is wrecked. But he doesn't buy anything for Violet, causing the two to have a falling out and break up. Sergio, with Lucky Boy's advice, quits his job and invests in a new company and house. He gets a new girlfriend, only to immediately lose her.

Almost out of money and alone, Sergio decides that all he wants is Sophia. There is an upcoming high school reunion of the "Class of '85", and Sophia will be there. He decides to go, asking Lucky Boy about his looks, with the toy giving him several pointers to change it. Sergio mutilates his face, even cutting several bits to seem more attractive, when in reality he looks horrifying.

Sergio arrives at the party which is being held in a grand ballroom. When Sergio walks, everyone there is terrified. The guests either run away, vomit or faint. Sergio doesn't understand what they're seeing until he turns around and looks down. Hair, and blobs of what looked to be pink spongy tissue dropped at intervals. Sergio is appalled at the filth and believed it had ruined his arrival, either unaware or not caring that those bits of gore were coming from him, his face peeling away. He looks up at the remaining guests and asks, "Now, where is Sophia?"

What We Found[]

Hudson is a security guard at the upcoming horror attraction Fazbear’s Fright, despite being afraid of just the animatronic parts laying around. His life up to this point has been filled with nothing but tragedy. His father, Steven, committed suicide, and his mother remarried to another man named Lewis, who would physically abuse Hudson at nearly every chance he got. He also became the number one target for bullies, who would hold his head in a flushing toilet. Hudson began to fail school, and instead of trying to help him, the teachers would instead call him names and tell him he’s dumb. The story would later reveal that Hudson's family home burned down with Lewis and his mother inside, killing them.

Because of this, most people Hudson meets seem scared of him. In turn, Hudson spends most of his life alone. His only two friends are Barry and Duane, old high school classmates. The three sign up to temporarily work at the upcoming horror attraction Fazbear's Fright, before enlisting into the military. Hudson fails the physical test, not being able to go. Hudson instead settles at working for the attraction full time to gain a stable income.

Hudson works both the day and night shift at Fazbear's Fright. He is intensely terrified of the entire building. Fake blood, cobwebs, and rats are scattered around to give a creepy atmosphere, but Hudson's real fear is the animatronics. Animatronic parts from past Freddy's locations are brought into the building for authenticity. Hudson always felt that they were watching him and never gets close to them out of fear. He meets a girl named Faith at the place, who admits to liking Hudson, however after their first date she breaks up with him after being told about the fire. He visits his grandmother Granny Foster for advice, and she tells him to leave his job. When he refuses, she responds with the simple phrase, "Your path is your own."

Three weeks later, something special is found in a hidden room at a Freddy's location, and it's shipped to Fazbear's Fright to be used in the attraction. Barry and Duane carry a coffin like box in the building, and while Barry goes to get a crowbar to open it, Duane snaps at Hudson for being afraid of the animatronic parts, and Hudson storms off, missing the animatronic being unboxed. All Hudson sees of the animatronic is its white eyes and green eyelids.

That night, he decides to face his fears of the animatronics and approaches the new delivery. Hudson runs straight into the lobby but stops dead in his tracks upon looking at the withered animatronic. Through its physical description, we learn that the animatronic is Springtrap. Hudson notices something red and sticky inside the suit. After touching the exposed flesh inside the suit, Hudson begins to hallucinate the voice of his algebra teacher calling him stupid. He brushes the hallucination off and continues to do his nightly sweep of the building. In the dining room, the statues on stage began impossibly singing, and something knocks the nightstick out of Hudson's hand. He hallucinates being slammed into a desk by Lewis in his childhood bedroom, only to realize he had slammed his head into an arcade machine and runs back to his office to bandage his head. Once there, he finds that Springtrap is missing.

He runs to the bathroom to wash the blood off his hands; however he suddenly hallucinates bullies dragging him to a toilet and submerging his head underneath. Hudson once again snaps out of it and discovers that the toilet is dry. Hudson hears laughter coming from above him and looks up to see Springtrap poke his head out of a vent before retreating. Hudson jumps into the vents to chase after him, finding the severed heads of several broken animatronics along the way. One of these is a damaged Chica model, whose body is somewhat intact. Hudson finally gives up the chase and crawls towards the nearest exit, but when he's about to leave, Chica grabs his leg with her hand. He tries kicking it off, but then he hears Faith's voice, repeating "I like you." Chica then grabs his hand, but Hudson manages to exit the vent and release her grip on him. Chica is suddenly torn apart by the various animatronic and costume parts.

Hudson runs into the kitchen and grabs a butcher knife and a rolling pin as weapons. He retreats back to his office and realizes he could just leave the building, but then finds his keys are missing. Just then, a large pile of animatronic mouths breaks in through a vent in the ceiling and begin asking Hudson algebra problems and calling him stupid. They crawl onto his body, one even attempting to enter his mouth, but before they can Hudson wets his pants and is left a crying mess rocking and humming on the floor.

Hudson eventually wakes up and discovers all the animatronic mouths gone. Something grabs him and throws him to the floor, breaking his wrist. He hears the voice of Lewis mocking him for peeing his pants. Hudson snaps back, and he sees his knife a few feet away from him. Three arms, one holding his nightstick, another holding his hammer, and an unmoving Foxy arm in the middle, attack Hudson, but he ignores them and tries to get up. He is able to get into a sitting position, but then Foxy's hook finally moves and cuts his back. He looks at his watch and discovers that his shift ends in four hours. Not willing to take this torture for four more hours, Hudson attempts to escape to the exit.

Springtrap appears, slowly moving down the hall towards Hudson. He speaks with Lewis' voice, taunting him just like the real Lewis did long ago. Hudson threatens to use his knife, but Springtrap overpowers him and stabs Hudson in his bicep. Hudson starts running away from Springtrap, getting bitten in his right forearm by one of the mouths on the wall, but when he looked back, Springtrap was gone. Everything that happened was seemingly yet another hallucination. He heads toward the gift shop to get towels to cover the wounds.

When he passes Pirate's Cove, Springtrap pokes his head out of the curtains and waves Foxy's arm in his hand. Hudson begins running, but Springtrap doesn't chase after. When Hudson reaches the lobby, he discovers Springtrap hooked up to the wall exactly how Barry and Duane had left him. Concentrated on leaving the place, Hudson ignores him and reaches the gift shop, where he wraps a large number of towels around his arm. He looks for something to break the glass door, but he sees movement and leaves the gift shop. He smells Lewis's tobacco, hears Lewis's voice, and is thrown across the lobby, breaking his back. Hudson, now heavily injured, returns to the gift shop only to find all the plushies and action figures guarding the exit. Out of options, he remembers something Granny Foster had always told him, "Heat purges. Fire heals." Hudson decides to hide and runs into the kitchen.

He opens one of the ovens and hides inside. Hudson begins to remember what had happened the day of the fire, and it's revealed that it was indeed Hudson who burned the house down, having hid in the fireplace after Lewis attacked him with a knife. He had taken his lighter and started the fire, making it out with nerve damage on his legs. Hudson begins to hear cracks from within the oven, and he discovers that it had been turned on. He tries kicking at the oven door, but it doesn't open. Hudson begins to hear Granny Foster calling his name and asks her to open the oven. He then realizes her voice is coming from within the oven. He begs for help, but she only says, "Your path is your path." Hudson is cremated alive.

Barry and Duane return the next day shocked to find the door still locked. When they unlock it, they smell something burnt and attempt to track down the smell. They come across Springtrap, in the exact same condition he was when they left, and discover the smell is from the kitchen. The story ends with Barry announcing his sympathy for how terrible Hudson's life has been as they enter the kitchen.

Epilogue[]

Larson wakes up in a hospital from a surgery, after suffering from a mysterious infection that was killed by a burn on his stomach. He spends time recovering, and his wife Angela even let Ryan visit and comfort him as he heals. After some time, he realizes that the Stitchwraith wasn't controlled by Afton, and in fact helped him by burning away the infection. The Stitchwraith was responsible for several deaths, yet he was spared. Larson intends to find it to gain more answers, as well as truly see whether the Stitchwraith was good or bad.

However, over the past few days, he's been having visions from different places and different times from different people. He didn't just see the visions, he was also able to hear and smell the surroundings, experiencing them. One particular memory is watching animatronics perform at Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, though others include a movie theater and hanging out with friends. Each memory had something in common: a ball pit. He begins to search for the ball pit because he felt it was connected to all the other mysteries.

Nine days have passed since the incident at the factory, and Jake has remained undercover ever since. As he hides in an alleyway to avoid the rain, Jake misses Andrew, having lost him during his fight with William Afton. He also still had to worry about the evil force that had powered Afton in the first place still roaming about. Jake finds a sleeping homeless man (presumably Grim) in the alleyway and accidentally touches him. Due to Andrew and his deadly anger no longer being present, the man doesn't bleed black and die. Instead, Jake accidentally takes a glimpse into the man's mind, seeing his memories.

He watches memories of the man having dinner with his wife and two children, going to work, and playing with his family. Jake also experiences the tragic memory of the man crawling out of a car crash with the rest of his family dead in the accident. Trying to ease the man's pain, he begins to expand the happy memory of him eating dinner with his family and puts it in the man's mind. Jake lets go, and the man smiles.

Jake hides in a building when two men walk down the alleyway, and finds a teenage girl passed out on the floor. Her condition reminded him of a drug user in an anti-drug commercial and gives her water to rehydrate her. Suddenly, the two men barge into the building and threaten the girl for money. Jake realizes they are drug dealers, and out of anger throws one man into a window and burns the other man's forehead with his now glowing endoskeleton. He carries the unconscious girl in the hopes of finding a safe place to stay.

Larson searches for potential places that might contain the ball pit and finally comes across an old, abandoned restaurant. The owner gives Larson the keys and he enters, only to discover that the restaurant is bare and empty. He cautiously enters the ball pit and found it was similar to his visions. He discovers old blood covering the balls and takes samples of it before leaving.

Elsewhere, one of the drug dealers burst into the hospital, seeking medical attention for himself and his colleague. One of the doctors notices a burn on the man's forehead and wipes it, revealing a message engraved into it; "just say no," an anti-drug commercial slogan.

Jake brings the girl into a shed near some railroad tracks. He tries to keep her comfortable. Suddenly, he hears something crawling outside the shed trying to enter. Jake protects the girl, wishing deep down that someone could protect him as well.

Trivia[]

Gumdrop Angel[]

    • This story is similar to Step Closer, as it begins with a scene that happens later in the story.
  • The ending was foreshadowed from the front cover of the book.
  • It's implied that the original Birthday Gummy for Ophelia's birthday party was also made from another person.
    • It's implied that Dominic or the restaurant has created a cycle that turns people into candy then serving them to birthday parties, then when one person eats the gumdrop nose and goes back to Freddy's they get served to another party.

Sergio's Lucky Day[]

  • Sergio's Lucky Day was originally the third story of the book but switched places with What We Found for unknown reasons.
  • "Lucky Boy" is a Balloon Boy variant.
  • This story is confirmed to take place in 1995, seeing as the high school reunion is the "Class of '85", and Sergio had thought about his lost crush Sophia for 10 years after that.
    • This is the second story to mention the year 1985. The first was Into the Pit.
    • Interestingly, 1985 is the only year to be mentioned throughout the entire Fazbear Frights series.
  • The ending is foreshadowed by one of Sergio's coworkers, where he warns him to not "cut off your nose to spite your face."

What We Found[]

  • What We Found was originally the second story of the book but switched places with Sergio's Lucky Day for unknown reasons.
  • This is the second story to feature Springtrap as the main antagonist, the first being In the Flesh.
    • This is technically the first story to feature the real Springtrap, since In the Flesh featured a fake VR version of him.
    • It is possible that this version of Springtrap is possessed by the same William Afton from The Man in Room 1280 and the Epilogues.
  • However, the corpse inside the suit is described very differently than the Room 1280 Patient, suggesting that they are different entities.
  • Though, it is very unlikely that they're different entities since William Afton has been Springtrap in all the other continuities, and that Miketrap (the theory that Michael Afton is Springtrap) has already been proven false by Scott Cawthon.
    • The only way for this version of Springtrap and the Room 1280 Patient to be two different individuals, is for the patient to be Mike.
  • This story is most likely a prequel to the Man in Room 1280 and the Epilogues, respectively.
  • Chica in this story seemed to be similar to the Logbook Chica from the end of the logbook, due to both of them having missing beaks and being damaged.
  • This story has the same effects from Five Nights at Freddy's 3, in which makes the guard and Hudson have hallucinations in the attraction.
    • The hallucinations begin right after Hudson touches the exposed flesh within Springtrap's suit, seemingly confirming that Springtrap caused the hallucinations in the game.
    • It is likely that either Andrew or Eleanor had a hand in terrorizing Hudson, making this story a prequel to The Man in Room 1280 and the epilogues.
  • This is the first story in the Fazbear Frights series to be loosely based on the third game.
  • This is the second story to be based on gameplay with the first being Room for One More.
