Spring Bonnie |
Spring Bonnie, also simply referred to as Yellow Bonnie or the Yellow Rabbit in several memories and commonly mistaken for Bonnie the Bunny, is a minor character in Five Nights at Freddy's: The Silver Eyes and the movie.
He is a Springlock Suit used in Fredbear's Family Diner by his creator, William Afton. As an animatronic/suit, he's a children entertainer, but was used by William Afton to lure and kill the young victims. After Afton was springlocked inside Spring Bonnie, he "became one with his creation" and was trapped inside the now rotten Spring Bonnie suit.
He is an alternative counterpart of Spring Bonnie from Five Nights at Freddy's and mascot of Fredbear's Family Diner with Fredbear. His Fazbear Frights counterpart is a demonic creature; a metaphorical version of Afton based on how he was perceived, rather than being actually him.
Appearance[]
Spring Bonnie's appearance is similar to Bonnie from the first game, upon closer inspection when compared to Bonnie, Spring Bonnie has a very different model shape. His ears are rounder and less pointy, his bowtie is smaller, and he has a different head shape. Spring Bonnie is a springlock animatronic having the same body and arms as Fredbear.
In Into the Pit, this version of Spring Bonnie is created by Eleanor, he is a bulky, animatronic golden rabbit with a large head, not too different from Nightmare Fredbear's, with square teeth in his wide mouth. In the cover, his eyes are small and blue, with apparent flesh surrounding them and a with agony ooze from his left eye, while his eyes are blank in the unused illustration, with no black tears. His body is rotund, yet no larger than his head, with slightly thinner limbs attached to them. The book describes him as looking organic, with an unhinging jaw and two rows of sharp fangs.
History[]
The Silver Eyes[]
Afton is seen wearing the Spring Bonnie suit to kidnap Carlton. He uses this same technique to kill children. Afton says that the suit fools the animatronics into thinking he is one of them. However, this suit doesn't fool Golden Freddy. Later, when William attempts to attack Charlie while wearing the suit, Charlie activates the springlocks, causing him to become Springtrap.
It's also stated that while at Fredbear's, Henry and William would wear the springlock suits and entertain the children.
The Twisted Ones[]
Main article: Springtrap
The Spring Bonnie suit is first found early on in The Twisted Ones by Charlie and Jessica when they return to the ruins of Freddy Fazbear's, Charlie and Jessica find Afton's rotting corpse inside of the Spring Bonnie costume, stuffed inside of a small closet, by the animatronics after dragging him off a year ago. Disgusted and convinced that is he was dead, they leave. The suit returns later in the book with William still using it as Springtrap.
FNAF Movie[]
Afton uses the Spring Bonnie as his disguise when he killed the Missing Children. He also uses the suit as his battle armor in the movie's climax. Protected in the suit, Afton beats Mike, ecstatically bragging about killing Garrett, and that killing him would be the perfect symmetry for his murders.
After knocking Mike out, Vanessa confronts him. The Spring Bonnie suit protects him from Vanessa's gunshot. Afton stabs Vanessa, disappointed that his biggest asset betrayed him. While this is happening, Abby draws Afton killing the kids to show the spirits in the animatronics what really happened.
As Freddy and the gang turn on Afton, he screams at them and establishes his self-proclaimed superiority to them, only for Chica to throw Mr. Cupcake at him, activating the Springlocks. As Mike, Abby and Vanessa escape, Afton is left to rot by the children he killed.
Trivia[]
- Spring Bonnie is a springlock suit, like Fredbear, in the sense of the ability to be both an animatronic and a wearable suit.
- Alongside Circus Baby and Funtime Freddy, Spring Bonnie is one of the animatronics whose illustration was removed from the book due to lacking color.
- This story seems to be the first explaining the power of the illusion disc. Only Oswald saw Spring Bonnie for what he really was, because he had seen him in the 1985 Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. Every other person saw Spring Bonnie as Oswald's father, because that's what they expected to see. Jinx, Oswald's cat, also saw Spring Bonnie for what he was because Jinx has no expectations as to what will walk through the door.
- This also explains all the balloon children appearing in The Twisted Ones. Charlie heard a child in the location near her father's house, so she expects to see a child. The others arrive, and Charlie says that there are robotic children around them. She then explains the illusion disk shows what the person expects to see.
