"I’ve accepted the new life that you gave me. You’ve made me one with my creation. My name is Springtrap!”

— William accepting his fate to be Springtrap

Springtrap the Rabbit is the main antagonist of Five Nights at Freddy's: The Twisted Ones, and What We Found from Fazbear Frights: Gumdrop Angel. He is the alternative counterpart of Springtrap the Rabbit from Five Nights at Freddy's 3.

As William Afton later states, he called himself Springtrap as he was driven by power. In the Fourth Closet, it’s revealed that many of the spring suit's parts got caught in his body while escaping the suit.

Appearance[]

Original Novel Trilogy[]

Springtrap's design seems to be a combination of FNaF 3 and FFPS' designs, he is a heavily damaged greenish-yellow springlock rabbit animatronic. He is the original model of a Bonnie suit, withered and falling apart.

His face was dark, the color mottled, and it was swollen with fluid; cheeks that had been hollow were now distended with the bloat of decay. His eyes were bloodshot, the burst capillaries threading through eyeballs that looked just a little too translucent. Something inside them had gone bad, jellylike. While he does retain some key physical details to his FNaF 3's design, there are some major differences.

Similar to his FNaF 3 design where his interior was mostly machinery, it is now almost entirely organic, including torn red skin as well as bits of flesh, with five pointy nails sticking out from the suit's fingers on both his hands. The mask also has significant differences, now with a black nose, a rectangular muzzle, a singular pair of buck teeth at the top row with small sharp needle-like teeth alongside it, and a full row of small sharp needle-like teeth at the bottom.

At the base of his neck, there were two pieces of metal gleaming. They extended from within his neck, rectangular lumps standing out from his mottled skin. He wore what had once been a mascot suit of yellow fur, though what remained was now green with mold.

Fazbear Frights[]

What We Found[]

Springtrap in this story has a similar appearance to his game counterpart. It is a rabbit animatronic with yellow-green fur and torn ears. The fur is worn down in many places to reveal the metal endoskeleton. Upon further inspection, Hudson finds body tissue and suspects that a corpse is inside. This Springtrap is different in that it has bones sticking out of his ankles.

Personality[]

Five Nights at Freddy's: The Novel Series[]

Upon becoming Springtrap and being released from the small room that he was trapped in, William is in an invigorated state of being, having felt powerful due to his newfound strength and his control of the Twisted Animatronics. He expressed how he felt like he was ‘more’ than both his past self and Henry.

Fazbear Frights[]

What We Found[]

Springtrap's personality resembles that to his game counterpart. However, he is able to imitate voices of people that Hudson recognize from the past, such as his teacher Mr. Atkin and abusive father Lewis.

At a Birthday party, the five children were visited by Spring Bonnie, one of the two animatronics (actually William Afton wearing the Spring Bonnie suit).

He lured them into a back room where he brutally murdered them and hid their bloodied corpses inside soon-to-be-released animatronics, including Freddy Fazbear. The children's spirits remained trapped in the animatronics.

In 1995, Charlotte Emily tells John that before moving to Hurricane her father owned another restaurant called Fredbear's Family Diner, which featured two performing robots, yellow versions of Freddy Fazbear and Bonnie the Bunny.

William reveals that the robots are possessed by the vengeful ghosts of his victims and boasts that they will hunt down and kill any intruders. He attacks in the yellow Bonnie costume, but Charlie activates its spring locks, which tears apart his flesh and organs, slowly killing him. The animatronics drag William's lifeless body away and Chief Burke escorts everyone out of the mall. The friends carry on living their lives.

Twisted Ones[]

Springtrap in the 2nd novel

When they return to the ruins of Freddy Fazbear's, Charlie and Jessica find Afton's rotting corpse inside of the Spring Bonnie costume, stuffed inside of a small closet, by the animatronics after dragging him off a year ago. Disgusted and convinced he was dead, they leave. Later, the wolf animatronic and Twisted Freddy surrounded Charlie, John, Jessica, and Clay Burke. Charlie asked the animatronics what they want, and William, undead and still inside the rabbit costume, replies that he was the one who brought them there.

Refusing to be called Dave, or William Afton, he chose to be called Springtrap, due to becoming "one with his creation." He shows off his power with his Twisted animatronics, declaring that he alone can control them. Moving closer to Charlie, he started gently stroking her cheek, saying he won't hurt her friends, but he needs something from her. Charlie is revolted and Mr. Burke shoots at Springtrap with his gun, missing but nevertheless making him recoil. Springtrap forgets his promise and immediately attacks her with the disturbing agility of a man on full health.

Charlie tries to lead Twisted Bonnie and Twisted Wolf into an artificial river, but they find out that they are waterproof and Springtrap laughed at her. Clay lit Twisted Bonnie and the Wolf on fire, and Springtrap ran through the artificial caves with Charlie and Freddy chasing after him while being disoriented by all of the illusions of Balloon Boys within the cave. When Charlie found Springtrap, she attacked him, beating his head against a rock. She realized that a mushroom was stuck in the ground by a sharp spike nearby. She tore it out of the ground and concealed the sharp edge.

She looks back up to see Springtrap lunge at her. She dodges and shoves the spike into his chest. He stops and tries to fight her off as she dug it further into his chest while asking why he took Sammy instead of her, to which Springtrap replies that he took her and not Sammy. As the tunnel is collapsing, Springtrap escaped through a small hidden trapdoor with the spike still in his chest.

The Fourth Closet[]

Springtrap makes a brief appearance in Five Nights at Freddy's: The Fourth Closet, where Springtrap is in a mannequin-like state. When Jessica takes a look at him, he simply collapses to the floor, and the real William Afton emerges to meet her.

William Afton explains to Jessica that Dave, and subsequently Springtrap, was a fake substitute that he designed to fill in for William Afton himself while he recovered from his injuries.

Fazbear Frights[]

What We Found[]

You're nothing at all. Less than nothing. You're nothing but smoke.

— Springtrap telling Hudson that he is nothing.

Springtrap is the main antagonist of the third story of Fazbear Frights: Gumdrop Angel. He appears after employees found the withered Spring Bonnie animatronic in one of the safe rooms and reused it for Fazbear's Fright. After Hudson touch the exposed flesh inside the suit, he begins to hallucinate, hearing his algebra teacher calling him stupid.

He brushes the hallucination off and continues to do his nightly sweep of the building, however after seeing the statues of the animatronics singing, something knocks the nightstick out of Hudson's hand, and he's suddenly being slammed against his desk by Lewis after snaps out of it and realizes he had slammed his head into an arcade machine and runs back to his office to bandage his head. Once there, he finds that Springtrap is missing.

He notices that his hands are still bloody, and runs to the bathroom to wash them off, however he's suddenly dragged into the toilet by an unseen force, and his head is forced into the toilet as it flushes. Hudson once again snaps out of it and discovers that the toilet is dry. Suddenly, Springtrap pokes his head out of a vent before retreating, and Hudson jumps into the vents to chase after him, finding the severed heads of several broken animatronics along the way. One of these is a damaged Chica model, whose body is somewhat intact. Hudson runs into the kitchen, grabbing both a knife and rolling pin to defend himself. He retreats back to his office once again. Not willing to take this torture for four more hours, Hudson attempts to escape to the exit.

Springtrap appears, slowly making his way down the hall towards Hudson, speaking with Lewis' voice, reminding him that he is nothing. Hudson jumps for his knife and starts swinging the knife wildly in Springtrap's direction, but eventually he overpowers him and stabs Hudson in his bicep. Hudson turns around, screaming in pain, and Lewis, through Springtrap, tells Hudson that he's nothing. While running away from Springtrap, Hudson getting bitten in his right forearm by one of the mouths on the wall, but when he looked back, Springtrap was gone and the walls were still, attempts to make his way to the exit and find a way to stop his bleeding wounds. When he reaches Pirate's Cove, Springtrap poking his head out of the newly made opening in the curtains, waving Foxy's arm in his hand. Hudson begins running, but Springtrap doesn't chase after. When Hudson reaches the lobby, he discovers Springtrap, who is still hooked up to the wall exactly how Barry and Duane had left him. Hudson is understandably confused, but he ignores this and reaches the gift show. Out of options, Hudson decides to hide, after remembering what caused the fire, runs into the kitchen and gets cremated alive.

Barry and Duane return the next day shocked to find the door still locked. When they unlock it, they smell something burnt and attempt to track down the smell. They come across Springtrap, in the exact same condition he was when they left.

Trivia[]

  • The design of Springtrap seems to be a mix of Springtrap from Five Nights at Freddy's 3 and his later form Scraptrap from Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator.

Springtrap the Rabbit is one of the main characters of Pressure from Tales from the Pizzaplex: Somniphobia. He is the alternative counterpart of Springtrap the Rabbit from Five Nights at Freddy's 3.

Appearance[]

Springtrap is described as a suit resembling a moldering rabbit with worn, putrid yellow-green fur, torn ears, and a mouth that was a "grim maw of desolation." The suit was uncomfortable, with metal glove-like frames encasing the fingers of whoever wore it. Metal beams were also present inside of the suit, contracting to fit the height of the person who wore it for easy optimization.

History[]

Tales from the Pizzaplex[]

Pressure[]

Springtrap appears in the Pizzaplex's "Urban Legends Roleplayers Auditorium." Unlike all the other characters, Springtrap is an actual springlock suit presumably meant to be on display in Rockstar Row, but was misplaced in the roleplay area by mistake. The main protagonist, Luca, is aware of Fazbear Entertainment's shady past and their attempts to monetize the company's tragedies without directly confirming they were real events.

Luca is well aware of William Afton, and the rumors of him not only killing kids, but also living on after his supposed death in a rotten Spring Bonnie suit. Despite not wanting to be associated with a murderer like Afton, Luca is peer pressured by his friends into putting on the Springtrap costume to play as him in a recreation of Fazbear's Fright. Luca's mission is to stop the others from escaping the fake horror attraction with a rubber knife prop.

As Luca makes his way through the area, the springlocks slowly activate bit by bit. They impale Luca, embedding the suit into him until he is unable to escape. The Springtrap suit locks onto his torso, his bones, his arms and legs and even his mouth. Luca's friends remain oblivious to his pain, believing that he is getting into character. Luca collapses to the ground from all the pain and is taken into his memories. After remembering some advice, he got from his dad about having an independent moral compass, Luca wakes up.

He tries to leave the fake Fazbear's Fright, but the suit refuses to move. He felt like something was calling to him. Luca went backstage and discovered an employee named Earl getting into a cheap Springtrap costume. He was planning on hurting nearby kids, as he hides under the stage and tries to kidnap a girl named Amy. Luca attacks, allowing Amy to get away. Luca and Earl fight, with the springlock suit's strength outclassing the fake costume. Luca strangles Earl to death, before accepting his own death.
